The Vine Witch is an Amazon First Reads choice for September. And THIS MONTH Amazon Prime members get to choose TWO free books instead of the usual one. They don’t include fantasy novels every month, so I’m honored they chose mine to be a part of this great deal for readers. So go. Click. Read!

And if you’re not an Amazon Prime member, the book will be released for general purchase on October 1, 2019.

Thanks so much to everyone already reading!

Summary for The Vine Witch:

For centuries, the vineyards at Château Renard have depended on the talent of their vine witches, whose spells help create the world-renowned wine of the Chanceaux Valley. Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

Vigneron Jean-Paul Martel naively favors science over superstition, and he certainly doesn’t endorse the locals’ belief in witches. But Elena knows a hex when she sees one, and the vineyard is covered in them. To stay on and help the vines recover, she’ll have to hide her true identity, along with her plans for revenge against whoever stole seven winters of her life. And she won’t rest until she can defy the evil powers that are still a threat to herself, Jean-Paul, and the ancient vine-witch legacy in the rolling hills of the Chanceaux Valley.

The Glamourist

The second book in The Vine Witch series has been turned in for review. Edits will begin shortly, and then I think we’re looking at a June 2020 release date. And I can update that book two will now be called The Glamourist, which is a rather intriguing title, I think. Excited to see this one come together in production.

A teaser for book two.

A teaser for book two.

While Elena remains the main character, this one leans into Yvette’s backstory more. It was an absolute blast to write. I’m a total pantser (I write by the seat of my pants rather than using an outline) when it comes to finding the story, and this one caught me by surprise in a few places. In some respects this novel is smaller in scale than The Vine Witch, yet it expands the world in ways I hadn’t anticipated when I first sat down to write it. And, as with its predecessor, the sequel is full of women taking care of business via magic.

In other news, I’ll be starting on book three this week as well, so things are busy.

ARCs Are Here!

EDIT* I have no more ARCs available. If you would still like to request a review copy, please contact the Public Relations office at Amazon/47North.

Advance reader copies of The Vine Witch have arrived! What this means is if you are a book blogger or reviewer and you’d like a copy, I have a limited number available. I can also refer you to my publisher at 47North and have them send you a copy directly. If you prefer a digital copy, I can provide a link to Netgalley as well. At this time that link is private and by invitation only (must also be a member of the site, but it’s free to join).

You can use the “Look Inside” feature on Amazon to peruse the first chapter and decide if The Vine Witch is something you’d like to read. Please feel free to use my contact page to get in touch and ask for a review copy. Still have a few left.

Thanks!

The Muse In Between

Haven’t updated this section in awhile. Nothing new to report about The Vine Witch’s release. None that I can share, at least. I’m in that very quiet lull of having one novel awaiting release and being deep in the trench of writing the second book in the trilogy, which will already be completed when The Vine Witch is released in October. And that, actually, has proven a good thing. I’m glad I got to write the second book without the pressure of any post-publication expectations.

The working title for the second book is The Muse* and it’s a very different sort of story from the first. Set in the fast-paced city (obviously Paris, though my own fantasy version of it), it expands on the world of turn-of-the-century witches in some hopefully unexpected ways. All I can tell you is these paintings by Gustav Klimt were a major part of the inspiration for the story.

*UPDATE: Now titled The Glamourist. Coming soon from 47North!

Never Hex a Witch

Never hex a witch. Good advice, that. Also, check out the full cover, front and back!

And in other news…

I’m happy to announce I’ve signed on to write two more novels in The Vine Witch series. Busily working on the follow-up, tentatively titled THE MUSE, in which the same characters enter the world of cabarets, art houses, and seance parlors, as the influence of bloodlines and politics threatens to turn witch against witch. To be published by 47North sometime in 2020!
