German Release of The Vine Witch

I wanted to share the covers of the German versions of The Vine Witch and The Glamourist. As you can see, they kept the original covers but changed the titles.

Midsummer Dreaming

“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lulled in these flowers with dances and delight.”

—Oberon, Act II, scene I

Happy Midsummer! The sun has gone full tilt in the northern hemisphere. I find it absolutely magical when the flowers are in full bloom, the butterflies and bees zoom by too busy to talk, and seeds for the next year’s cycle begin to ripen on the stalk.

A fairly regular summer tradition for me is to visit the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. As you might have guessed, A Midsummer' Night’s Dream is one of my favorite plays by the bard. I never miss a chance to see it performed on stage. And if it’s at an outside theater, all the better. This year’s performance promises to be a ‘70s glam rock version??? I’m usually a purist about my Shakespeare, but we’ve been cooped up in the house so long, I’ll take a Bowie-esque Oberon anytime!

And…if you’ve read THE GLAMOURIST, you know there is a a Midsummer connection to the story. June is also the one year anniversary of its publication (perfect timing!). In addition, I need to thank my publisher for recently sending me this plaque for THE GLAMOURIST reaching a significant sales milestone during the past year! Thanks 47North! And thank you readers!

Czech copies of The Vine Witch have arrived! It’s always interesting to me to see how the title gets interpreted in other languages. This translates to something in the vicinity of Wine and Lines? Which doesn’t make literal sense to me, but more than likely has a more subtle meaning in Czech. As you can see, they stuck with the original cover design because it’s beautiful. :)

Available now from Grada publishers via their imprint, Cosmopolis, for those in the Czech Republic.

**Update: Grada has bought the rights to a Slovak edition now as well. Ďakujem!
